Root reducer – new (in storage)

consisting of:

1. Tapered roller conveyor

Plant data:
Wood lengths: 2 m to 4.6 m (main length: 2.7 m),
extendable to 8 m (optional, at an extra charge)
Log diameter: 200 mm to 1,100 mm
Wood types: Softwood or hardwood, max. individual log weight 2 tons
Piece rate: up to 5 pieces/minute, of which with root reduction: up to 2 pieces
Operation: 1-shift operation

Description:
Tapered roller conveyor for roundwood with housing bearing (nominal diameter: 60 mm);
Outer diameter of the tapered rollers: 450 mm; drive chain: roller chain 5/4";
integrated 4-arm, hydraulic lifting device for transferring to the
root reducer, steel housing plain bearing; drive of the tapered roller conveyor via
gear motor with reduction gearbox and soft start; integrated light barriers (2 pieces) for
log positioning

2. Root reducer

Dimensions:
Length: approx. 7 m

Description:
- 3 driven chain beds, drive chain: roller chain 6/4" with square tooth attachment
- Drive via gear motor
- 2 support blocks with non-driven rollers (roller bearing)
- hydraulically pivoting clamping device for clamping from above with V-bed
- Drive chain: roller chain 6/4", drive via gear motor;
- housing-mounted milling shaft with reversible, interchangeable knife blocks
(4 cutting edges per knife block), drive via three-phase motor
(drive power: 75 kW; flexible tire coupling)
- Star-delta operation for the drive motor (energy-saving mode for idle operation
- automatic switchover during the reduction process)
- Milling shaft length: 1,200 mm, mounted on a rotatably supported, adjustable
drive rocker (hydraulic drive)
- 4-arm lifting device, hydraulically driven
- integrated hydraulic unit (15 kW)
- integrated log diameter measurement for automatic milling time calculation
(control unit included in item 2), for wood lengths under 3.5 m, the
support position of the log must be adjusted (reduced reduction length)
Reduction length for log length of 2.7 m: 0.7 m, for log length of 3 m: 0.9 m

3. Control system
- Control cabinets in grounded design, equipped with control units for all drives of items 1 and 2,
- Power supply: 3x400 VAC; Rittal control cabinet; motor contactors and contactors from Siemens
- Freely programmable controller Bernegger & Rainer
- Control cabinets completely wired and tested
- Reserve slots for approx. 5 drives
- Circuit diagram for the system
- Signal exchange via potential-free contacts

- Emergency stop system; including necessary sensors; manual operation option

Control function description:
- Automatic reduction operation, for log lengths under 3.5 m, an
adjustment of the support position (wood alignment) is required (reduced reduction length)
- Automatic log positioning via the tapered roller conveyor, the reduction process
must be activated manually (reduction command)
